The Lamest Thing Ever…

Posted by Nathan P. on December 15, 2005

…Is that I got this quote from a friend’s away message.

“The F/S, or “fun-to-shit,” ratio must be greater than 1 for it to be worth it.”

Where would you say your gaming F/S ratio lies these days?

Who said, “90% of anything is crap”? That would be roughly equivilent to “20 minutes of fun in 4 hours of play”…

I’d say my ratio is hovering right around 1. It may go up or down, depending on how my “By-the-Book” D&D 3.5e game goes today.

  2. Ah, I love the F/S ratio idea!

I especially like it because, while I get scant gaming, my ratio is still quite high!

Aye. I suppose some kind of relationship to instances of play would also be valuable, but I…don’t do math. So I’ll let someone smarter figure that out.

And Pol (I dunno how to do the accent thingy), a quick google search reveals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturgeon's_law

    Good luck with the game!

And 20 minutes of fun in 4 hours is what, 20/240? My calculator tells me thats a .08 ratio.

I’m currently hovering around .7 to .8 ratio. My last couple of weeks have been higher than that, but I generally gestalt my ratio based on fun over the last 3 months.
